Ken Stange is a writer, visual artist, occasional scientific researcher, and a university lecturer on the psychology of art. He works in many forms and likes to mix his media. His works include poetry, fiction, arts journalism, scientific research reports, computer programs, philosophical essays, and visual art. He calls all his books "hypotheses" because of his interest in the integration of the sciences and the arts. His visual art he calls "constructions" because they are constructed by manipulating bits and pieces of images with varying origins (photos, mathematical graphs, freehand drawing, etc.) He also is interested in the integration of image and text. Three of his 'hypotheses' are books with some of his 'constructions' included. His book with Penumbra Press, A Smoother Pebble, A Prettier Shell, was a collection of his early, science-based art works integrated with poems and an extended essay on the relationship of science to visual art. Two more recent and yet unpublished works also include some of his artworks. And he has recently published a limited edition art book of one of construction series entitled Travellers In Europa.
