Personal Relationship

Another aspect that can cause an increased amount of stress for post-secondary students is personal relationship problems. In Frazier and Schauben's (1994) experiment they asked the subjects to distinguish the most stressful life event they had experienced; 20% of the subjects expressed that relationship breakups were the most stressful event experienced in their lifetime. Westefeld and Furr (as cited in Schweitzer, 1996) found that one of the most frequently cited causes of depression among students is relationships.
